Study Status

In Development

DAIDS Number

39282

Summary

IMPAACT 2053 is a Phase II study of the safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics of long-acting injectable cabotegravir (CAB LA) given to breastfeeding infants born to mothers living with HIV. The study will also involve interviews of mothers, study staff, and clinical care providers to inform development of a model for implementation of CAB LA to prevent transmission of HIV to breastfeeding infants. The model will then be piloted in a clinical care setting. All components of the study are expected to be completed within three years.
